It's an early Kia Magentis/Optima.

2000-2004 Kia Optima. It's was a badge engineered Hyundai Sonata for that model.

I was thinking it's an Australian car. Really.

Weird badge?
I was thinking that's the real thing.

can't say I've given them much thought of if they're any good or not. As far as beige-mobiles go they can't be too bad.

What I meant by weird was that I haven't seen one before. Is it something that Kia uses in certain markets?

Oh, they can be. I think it's the single fastest-depreciating car in the UK, or some such. You can pick up a five year old low-miler with service history for about a thousand pounds. They are truly awful cars. The V6 is basically a V4 with two extra cylinders that do nothing but increase emissions and fuel consumption.

that's a horrible thought.
If I ever want to dip my toes into beige I'll stick to commodores.

Maybe I'm a little too harsh. For the price, they're OK. Compare alright to other cars in the same price-bracket. But that they're several years newer than everything else in that bracket has to say something...
Actually, I just checked and I probably am being too harsh. The prices are slightly better than I thought. Not much, but a little bit.
